The Gilbert W. Mouser Memorial Scholarship Fund was established by Dr. John McVickar to recognize outstanding graduate students in the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources who are focused on the study and practice of conservation education and environmental education.
Dr. John McVickar and Professor Gilbert Mouser
Dr. John McVickar received his Master of Science degree in Resource Development from Michigan State College in 1953. During this time, Dr. Gilbert W. Mouser was one of his major professors. Dr. Mouser had a profound impact on Dr. McVickar and over the years his professional relationship with Dr. Mouser formed the basis of his very positive memories of Michigan State College. The excellent program that Dr. Mouser and his colleagues provided for students became the motivation for Dr. McVickar to create this scholarship in Dr. Mouser’s memory. Dr. McVickar states
“I found the whole experience [at MSC] to be very professional, rewarding, and educational.”
The Mouser Scholarship is intended to encourage students who have demonstrated the motivation and capacity to achieve their educational and professional goals, as well as the initiative to seek opportunities to further their progress.
